Introduction

Beacon Hill Nursery School is part of the Butterflies Nursery School group. With its sister setting based in Thursley, Surrey. It is a spacious nursery designed to provide a variety of learning experiences for children aged 9 months to 5 years. Vibrant colours and furnishings provide a stimulating and secure environment which is complemented by our large grassed outdoor playing area and patio. We are also lucky to have an awning over the patio which allows for outdoor play every day, whatever the weather! Our Nursery School is divided into two main rooms, The Moons and The Stars. The Stars room is for our younger children and babies.  This room is equipped to help little ones develop socially, emotionally and physically. In this room we support children and parents reach those early milestones such as walking, talking and toilet training. The Moons room is split into our 2-3’s and our Pre-Schoolers aged 3-5 years. In this room activities are well balanced between individual and group play, quiet and noisy activities and structured and free choice playing. Activities and tasks are all designed to ensure children have fun whilst learning.

Activities and tasks are all designed to ensure children have fun whilst learning, whilst also offering a range of activities for children who have English as an additional language and children who come in needing specialist support.

Regular inspection by OFSTED and our local EYL (early year’s liaison) ensures that standards are maintained. We are also registered to accept the Universal funding for 9 months to 5 years as well as the working parent entitlement, and also the FEET funding for 2 year olds. We are also signed up to receive the tax free childcare payments. We also  have a proactive and successful partnership with our Early Years advisors and outside agencies. The relationship reflects Beacon Hill’s continued efforts to work towards excellence and an outstanding level of Care and Education for all our children and staff.

Children participate in a well-structured day, which prepares them for primary school. All our children will follow the Early Years Foundation Stage, which was revised in September 2025, providing the very best possible start in life. Most of all they will be happy, secure children ready for the challenge of ‘big school’!
